An important part of the curriculum is that children experience music in a practical and engaging way. Each class enjoys a music and singing lesson each week. In addition, each class teacher is trained to run their own weekly music and movement lesson,
Movement and physical activity is a critical part of the preschool curriculum and the daily programme provides daily opportunities for every child to participate in gross motor activities from musical movement and gross motor activities to free play on the outdoor equipment in the spacious playgrounds.
Children may sign up for extra-murals offered on the school premises by independent service providers at extra cost.
These are: Playball, Jiu-Jitsu, Mini Cricket & Mini Soccer

Individual tuition is available for any child who wishes to study music.
We have highly qualified and experienced music teachers who work closely with children, encouraging a love of music and a sense of discipline in their efforts.
Children are encouraged to perform at assemblies and twice annually at soirées.

In addition to private tuition, Forres has opportunities for children to experience the thrill of music in:
Class Music
All children in the Foundation Phase enjoy a weekly singing and music appreciation lesson.
Choir (Junior)
We have a junior choir (Gr 2 and 3) and a senior choir (Grade 4 – Grade 7). Children are auditioned annually. Commitment to the school choir is for the whole year. The Choir performs at various functions and soirées during the year.
Once a week, at the end of the academic day, each class participates in a multi-sports programme that introduces them to a wide range of skills and sports. This lays the foundation for later when in Intermediate Phase they can hone their skills by choosing a specific sport to focus

Marimba Band
Grade 4-7: The school has two Marimba Bands. Children who wish to play in the bands audition annually. Forres Marimba Bands have been invited to play at functions outside of school and are always a highlight at various school functions.
Choir (Senior)
Grade 4 – 7: Children are auditioned annually. Commitment to the school choir is for the whole year. The choir performs in our annual school production, Celebration (prize giving) and at the soirees.
Forres offers the following sport programs in the afternoon. In addition to weekly coaching sessions, our children also participate in playing inter-school matches.
